Before Valencia

Spain's Flag

Hello Friends and Family, Thank you for joining me throughout my summer adventure. I've decided to blog my experiences in Valencia, Spain. Because I'll be participating in the incredible IU Honors Program, I won't be able to speak, read, or THINK a word of English beginning June 7th. The following blogs chronicling my experiences with cute stories and cute photos will be in Spanish. Only Spanish. Needless to say: Challenge... ACCEPTED.  I'll be returning from my adventure on July 23. During those weeks I'll be making new friends, learning new skills, going to school, staying with a host family, and frequently visiting the beach... ;)
"Where is Valencia," you ask? Here's a map.
Valencia is where IT IS AT!
During my weeks in Valencia I will be permitted only one hour a week of internet. During this time I will write a blog, attach a few photos, send mass emails, and send you all LOTS (and lots) OF LOVE.

Please don't make this hard on me!! I ask that you please not remind me of how much you miss me, of all that I'm missing at home, and of how much you want me home. I know this-- I'll miss you, too.  And It'll be difficult to enjoy myself in Spain if you're going to constantly remind me of the things I dearly miss. I ask instead that you experience this with me, and remember I will be back soon.

Remember that sometimes No News is Good News! If I don't blog for awhile-- it's a good thing! It means I'm too busy, and having too much fun enjoying Valencia! And it means I'm not in the ER! All is good :)

The IU honor's program has STRICT rules. They're very reasonable, but they're strict.Yes, I'll be 18 on June 3rd, but I'm still to act as a minor: No smoking, no drinking, etc. Also, there's a strict no dating policy. So Mom and Dad don't have to worry about me eloping with a handsome Spanish man. And finally, I only get ONE call home during the full time I'm off in Spain.

I don't know who my host family is, or what my host family will be like. But I already love them, and I'm thankful they're letting me spend this time with them. We'll be making memories that will last a lifetime. They'll always have a very special place in my heart.

Wow.
I've been dreaming of studying abroad for a long time now-- since I was a little girl. And this day has finally come.
Am I ready?
Yes, I truly am, and I'll make the most of each hour, day, and situation I face.

<3 Love <3
